Commission launches investigation into Shein

The European Commission has today opened formal proceedings against e-commerce giant Shein under the Digital Services Act. The Commission says it's launching the investigation for a range of reasons. They include what the Commission calls Shein's "addictive design” and its sale of “illegal products, including child sexual abuse material”. 

According to the Commission, Coimisiún na Meán, the Digital Services Coordinator for Ireland, will also be involved in the investigation, as the national Digital Services Coordinator in the country of Shein's establishment in the EU. European Commission spokesperson Thomas REGNIER today explained more about the case .
