Commission ‘will act’ against Poland on court ruling VDL

The European Commission is threatening to trigger a range of measures against Poland over rule of law issues.

This morning the President of the European Commission said the EU cannot and will not allow EU common values to be put at risk because of rule of law transgressions in Poland.  

Ursula von der Leyen was referring to a recent ruling by Poland’s constitutional tribunal which found that EU treaties were incompatible with its own national constitution. The ruling’s caused outcry in many EU circles.

And it’s led to calls for the Commission to take action against Poland.
