End Gaza carnage and “slaughter of innocent civilians”– Martin

The Tánaiste Micheál Martin says there must be an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. And he says Ireland will be asking for support for the UN Secretary General’s efforts to bring about a humanitarian ceasefire in the region.

Mr Martin was speaking in Brussels this morning, ahead of a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. Ireland has co-signed a letter to the President of the European Council, with Belgium, Spain and Malta, calling for “a lasting humanitarian ceasefire that can lead to an end of hostilities” in Gaza.  

The Tánaiste explained the motivation behind the letter.
