Free EU travel passes opportunity for young Irish – EU

Young Irish citizens have the chance to avail of free travel passes around the EU to help them connect with people all over the continent and to gain experience travelling around Europe.

The European Commission’s DiscoverEU initiative kicked off again today when its European Youth Portal opened for applications.

EU citizens aged between eighteen (18) and twenty (20) will have two weeks from today to apply for one of sixty thousand free travel passes. Most of the passes will be for rail but exceptions will be made for those living on islands or in remote areas.

Grace Bolton, from the European Commission representation in Ireland, explained the thinking behind the initiative.
