‘Practical solutions’ can be found on NI Protocol - Maroš Šefčovič

The EU is expected to present new proposals on the Northern Ireland Protocol next week. They will be in response to British demands to change the Protocol over their concerns about its implementation.

The Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, this morning said he believed that their package of practical solutions would be attractive for Northern Ireland.

Mr Šefčovič made the comments during an online address to the Dublin based Institute of International and European Affairs. He said British threats to trigger Article sixteen of the Northern Ireland Protocol were unhelpful and distracting.

And he warned the EU would not renegotiate the Protocol.
