“We will not renegotiate the Protocol” – Maroš Šefčovič

The EU will not hesitate to use all options available to it to safeguard EU interests, if the UK triggers Article Sixteen of the Northern Ireland Protocol because of disagreements over its implementation.

They were the remarks made this morning by the European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič who is the Co.Chair of the EU-UK Joint Committee.

During his online address to the Dublin based Institute of International and European Affairs, Mr Šefčovič said he believed practical solutions could be found to ensure the Protocol works well on the ground across Northern Ireland and Ireland.
